KITA (Chairman: Jin-Sik Yoon) co-hosted "KITA - AMCHAM Doing Business in the U.S. Seminar 2024" with AMCHAM Korea (Chairman & CEO: Mr James Kim) on Tuesday, 29 October at COEX.
Key topics discussed during the seminar were a) elements to consider when investing in the United States and b) U.S. economy outlook and the latest trends in the U.S. presidential race. The seminar was attended by approximately 300 people, including Ki-hyeon Kim, the Executive Director of the International Cooperation Group from KITA, James Kim, the Chairman & CEO of AMCHAM Korea, Joy M. Sakurai, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy and entrepreneurs from companies making investments in the United States.
Executive Director Kim said, "Bilateral trade for the first half of the year between Korea and the United States has set a new record this year with more than USD 100b worth of trade" and added, "Although the two countries are maintaining favorable conditions in terms of bilateral trade, Korean companies should be fully prepared as a big shift in business environment is expected in the United States depending on the presidential election results, which might lead to a potential change in policies on trade, technology and tax breaks."
