KITA Chairman Jin Sik Yoon had a meeting with business representatives from exporter companies in Gwangju & South Jolla region on Thursday, 2 July at Holiday Inn Gwangju. Chairman Yoon took this opportunity to engage in dialogue with business representatives and collected their suggestions for improving policies. Additionally, he paid a visit to Woosung Co., a company serving as the Chairmanship company of the Gwangju Jeonam Corporations' Council, and listened to the voices of the foundational industry sector and visited manufacturing sites.
With the recent merger of Gwangju Metropolitan City and South Jeolla Province to create a new administrative jurisdiction named "Jeonnam - Gwangju Special Metropolitan City", this meeting and site visits were organised to boost the competitiveness of key industries in the region and ponder on potential avenues for boosting regional exports in a new era spearheaded by the creation of a new Special Metropolitan City. This meeting was attended by Chairman Hwa Seok Park from Woosung, which specialises in injection moulding, along with 11 representatives from exporter companies from region-specific industries, including S.D.M., which specialises in press die production, Food Korea, which specialises in food products, Moojin Kee Yeon, which specialises in power generation facilities and Eunhye Industrial, which specialises in auto parts manufacturing.
In his welcome remarks, KITA Chairman Jin Sik Yoon mentioned, "I feel thankful for your tireless efforts to contribute to exports in a challenging and complex environment triggered by widespread protectionism, supply chain restructuring, accelerating AI transformation" and added, "KITA will act as a reliable bridge to address challenge you face, such as diversifying export markets, high logistics costs and securing talents, by conveying your concerns to the government to have them reflected when designing policies and institutional measures."
