Hosted by the KITA, the 59th Trade Day was commemorated on December 5 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This year’s official slogan was “Strive for being a leading trading country! Keep up with the good spirit, Korea!” More than 1,000 guests attended the ceremony, including President of the Republic of Korea Seok-yeol Yoon, Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy Chan-yang Lee, and KITA Chairman Christopher Koo.

Korea’s exports in 2022 are expected to record an all-time high despite persistent risks including mounting trade deficit and a decrease in exports, triggered by a slowdown in the global economy.

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) invited His Excellency UAE Ambassador to Korea Abdulla Saif Alnuaimi to a Business Dialogue on December 8th at COEX in Samseong-dong. This business dialogue was attended by 18 major Korean companies in fields of energy, infrastructure, biotechnology, aerospace and future technology sectors. Ambassador Alnuaimi and representatives from these companies discussed ways to boost economic exchanges between Korea and the UAE.

Mr. Chairman mentioned, “Energy & infrastructure, aerospace, healthcare and future technology sectors are four areas with high potentials for future cooperation between Korea and the UAE”. He added, “It is my sincere hope that the committee will support consistent, year-round and extensive cooperation between Korea and the UAE, which will be based on enduring trust developed between the two countries.”

Her Excellency Guatemalan Ambassador to Korea visited KITA on December 15, 2022 to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in various fields of trade and economic affairs.

As one of the largest producers for sugar, coffee and banana, Guatemala has the fourth-largest Korean population in the region, behind Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. Guatemala is, indeed, an important partner of Korea in Latin America region.
