Business Luncheon With Maryland Governor Larry Hogan

On September 19, Korea International Trade Association (KITA) hosted a Business Luncheon for Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan at the InterContinental Seoul COEX, Samseong-dong.

This Luncheon was attended by Korean companies such as Exicon, Seah Steel, Biosmart, Genesis BBQ and LabGenomics. They discussed the negative impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on Korea’s automobile industry and future measures to expand economic cooperation between Korea and Maryland.

Mr. Governor is called as “Hanguk Sahwi”, a son-in-law of Korea because First Lady Yumi Hogan grew up in Korea to become the first Korean American First Lady. They visited Korea for a nine-day trip and met with key leaders including President Yoon.

He also expressed his resolve to further strengthen economic ties between Korea and Maryland in various fields including supply chains, technology, semiconductors and foods.

On September 19, the 15th Arab Cultural Festival was held in celebration of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the COEX, Seoul by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the Qatar Embassy in Korea and the Korea-Arab Society. Qatar 2022 is attracting immense global attention as it is the first World Cup to take place not only in the Middle East but also during the winter season.

In addition, this year is especially meaningful as it marks the 20th anniversary of the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup. As the second World Cup is to be held in Asia, both sides affirmed their solid cooperation to promote the World Cup Qatar, a sporting event for everyone around the world to enjoy.
