The
Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) and the
People’s Government of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture co-hosted a
business networking event centering on the promotion of economic cooperation on
July 21 at the Trade Tower to commemorate the 70th anniversary of
the establishment of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and the 30th
anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Korea and China.
Key
figures who participated in this business networking event include Gwan-seop
Lee, the Vice Chairman of KITA, Xing Haiming, the Chinese ambassador to Korea
and Hong Kyeong, the Lead of the Government of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous
Prefecture. The event specially aimed at scaling up investment by Korean
entrepreneurs in the north-eastern region of China and seeking opportunities to
make inroads into the IT industry market in the Yanbian region.
Vice
Chairman Lee mentioned in his opening remarks, “Yanbian region is home to the
largest settlement of people with Korean descent in China, thereby having the
greatest potential among all regions in China in generating synergy between
Korea and China.” He also said, “We highly expect Yanbian region to play a significant
role as a base promoting greater economic cooperation between Korea and China
through Korean companies creating an international logistics complex and making
inroads into the IT industry in the region.”
