Five business organizations in Korea -
including Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo),
Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Enterprises Federation, Korea
Federation of SMEs and the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea -
and Costa Rica Exports Promotion Agency (La Promotora del Comercio Exterior de
Costa Rica, or PROCOMER) co-hosted Korea - Costa Rica Trade and Investment
Forum on November 24th at the Hilton Millennium Hotel in Seoul.

Rica, who is on his state visit to Korea, took part in the Forum. President
Alvarado is reportedly known to have a great interest in the economy and
culture of Korea. He met officials from major Korean companies, including
Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motors, and Korean companies currently
investing in Costa Rica, including Celltrion, Chong Kun Dang Group and Seegene
- all of which are biomedical companies, and also Sae-A Group. President
Alvarado had discussions with officials from these companies to search for
possible avenues for economic cooperation between the two countries.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Koo mentioned,
“As celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic ties between Korea and Costa Rica becomes imminent, it is high time
the two countries seek a deeper level of sustainable cooperation” and added,
“Among many sectors, renewable energy, hygiene and healthcare, information and
communications technology sectors are expected to produce remarkable results
through bilateral cooperation.”
