Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) hosted the business session of “The Third International Forum for Northern Economic Cooperation” held on November 18th at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Themes discussed included the response to a change in value chains after the Covid pandemic, a shift to green economy and a vision of future-oriented cooperation with Eurasian countries.

In his welcoming speech, Chairman Koo mentioned, “Korea started to form ties with former Soviet bloc countries by establishing diplomatic relations with these countries three decades ago, and Korea’s bilateral relations with these countries have seen remarkable progress ever since across a wide spectrum of fields, including politics, economy, social issues and culture, which was buttressed by summit meetings and exchanges led by the private sector.” He also added, “In order to secure sustainable growth and co-prosperity of our two regions, I propose the two sides to go beyond existing forms of cooperation in traditional sectors, including manufacturing and construction, and open up an era of collaboration and co-prosperity by exploring sectors for new growth opportunities, such as smart industry, artificial intelligence and space industry and responding to the climate crisis.”
