Korea International Trade Association Daegu & Gyeongbuk Branch Office (Head: Sanghun Lee) hosted “Daegu & Gyeongbuk KITA Membership Day” event on October 14th at Hotel Geumosan in Gumi city.
This Membership Day event was organized for new member companies, which gained KITA membership within the last five years, to brief them with information on measures and policies to support exports and to provide a venue for networking. Due to Covid restrictions, this year’s event was a departure from a traditional large-scale event. This year’s event was participated by 14 new member companies based in Gumi and its vicinity. Subsequent separate events for Daegu, Pohang and Andong are scheduled to be held.
KITA provided information on how small to mid-sized exporting companies can benefit from “Comprehensive Exports and Imports Logistics Response Center”, which was established with an aim to support these companies suffering from a shortage of air/maritime freight capacity. KITA is collaborating with Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), Korean Air, SM Line, POSCO, Hyundai Glovis and Korea Marine Transport to provide dedicated bottoms for SMEs. KITA also provided information on a subsidy program initiated by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to support small to mid-sized exporting companies with logistics costs arising from their exporting activities. The fund needed for this program - KRW 3.8 billion or approx. $3.4 million - was secured by introducing a supplementary budget this year equivalent to this amount.
