    KITA hosted “KITA Korea Grand Sourcing Fair” 


    Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) announced that the organization hosted “The 14th KITA Korea Grand Sourcing Fair” on December 1st at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Korea Grand Sourcing Fair has been ongoing since 2008, and is the largest annual trade fair geared towards supporting exports of domestic companies. This year’s fair attracted 231 overseas buyers from 31 countries in the Middle East, Asia and Latin America, including eight overseas buyers, who flew in to Korea to hold in-person meetings. These buyers will engage in face-to-face meetings and virtual meeting during the two-day event with 740 Korean companies specializing in consumer goods, industrial goods and services.

    In his congratulatory speech, Chairman Koo highlighted, “For the past two years, KITA has been continuously injecting support to the exporting sector to provide a breakthrough for this sector, which has been battered by the unprecedented Pandemic.” However, he expressed optimism by mentioning, “We expect to see record-setting export performance this year, which is attributable to our support in offering various contact-less channels of exports and ceaseless effort exerted by the government, relevant institutions and relevant businesses.” Chairman Koo also added, “It is my sincere wish that this year’s revival of an in-person event that connects exporting companies and buyers after a two-year hiatus will be a starting point of re-activating business activities in the global market.”

    This year’s event was participated by large purchasing companies from multiple sectors ranging from consumer goods to industrial goods. Prominent participants include Reliance Industries ? an Indian conglomerate retail company, Telkom Indonesia ? the largest telecommunications conglomerate in Indonesia and Aries Marine ? the largest engineering services company in the Middle East.

    A wide array of marketing events will also take place in cooperation with the government and relevant organizations. For instance, a business meeting event to be co-hosted with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy will be aimed at supporting trading companies. This event will encourage trading companies to engage in meetings with buyers and manufacturing companies. An open competition will also be staged to discover potentially successful items for exports, which were developed by college students. Items discovered will be up for discussions with manufacturing companies for export feasibility.

    Other events to be held include, “K-content business meeting”, “K-sports items and services business meeting”, a seminar for exporting companies on digital marketing strategies and a live broadcast run by overseas influencers through social networking services platforms to promote popular Korean made items.
