KITA and GS Retail Co-hosted 'Online Business Meeting on Exports of Processed Food’

    - To pave the way for overseas expansion through GS Retail's convenient stores in Vietnam... Overseas promotional event also planned for October -

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) held ‘Joint Online Business Meeting with GS Retail on Exports of Processed Food’ in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy at COEX in Samseong-dong on July 20th.

12 Korean companies that produce instant & read-to-cook foods such as ddukbokki, samgyetang, and octopus stir-fry, beverages, kimchi, gochujang, merchandisers (MD) of different items at GS Retail, and overseas buyers from Singapore, Thailand, and Hong-Kong participated in the online meeting.

This event was designed to support overseas expansion of Korean businesses in foods, beverages, and liquor by taking advantage of this year’s newly designated specialized trade company GS Retail’s convenience stores in Vietnam and its overseas partners in Southeast Asia. Opportunities will be given for the selected products with outstanding features to open up export channels in earnest by participating in overseas local promotions. The hosting country and the scale of the promotional event will be determined after taking potential buyer’s opinions.

Kim Hyun-chul, head of the Global Marketing Group at KITA, said, “Since the buyers from countries such as Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam, where free trade agreements (FTAs) with Korea have come into effect, require a country of origin labelling in order to reduce import duties, the FTA Comprehensive Support Center plans to provide in-depth consultations to participating companies,” and added, “We will continue to carry out joint projects by utilizing items, countries and overseas networks that each specialized trading company demonstrate strengths.”
