KITA Sends
73 Global Trade Interns
- Will have work experience for 6 months at 48
companies in 18 countries such as US, Vietnam, UAE, etc. -
The
Trade Academy of Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim
Young-joo) held the ‘22nd Global Trade Internship Dispatch Ceremony’
at COEX in Samseong-dong on July 30th.
The
22nd internship program participants, composed of 73 students from
21 colleges, have trained as potential traders by taking courses such as trade
business, overseas marketing, MS Words and Excel, and office automation (OA).
Starting
this August, the interns will work in overseas subsidiaries and branches of
Korean companies operating in 18 countries around the world, including Korea’s
major trade partner countries like the United States, EU, and China and others
such as Malaysia, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam for a period of six months.
As this internship program is getting more popular among companies, 48
companies, 5 more countries and 10 more companies compared to the last year,
are joining the 22nd internship program.
Im
Ye-sin (24, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) who will be placed in Panama
branch of POSCO International said, “I will grow into a trader with a local
understanding by experiencing business in Panama, the hub country of the
Americas.”
Kim
Go-hyeon, Secretary-General of World Trade Academy, said, “Global Trade
Internship Program is designed to foster global competency with six-month work
experience in overseas trade fields. Since 2000, we have produced more than
2,300 graduates.” He added, “We hope that more universities and companies will
join the industry-academia cooperation so that more students will have
opportunities.”
