    KITA Launches ‘Global Marketing Panel’

    - 200 panels consist of consumers and experts from 26 countries will provide reviews and feedback on the products of Korean startups -

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim Young-joo) announced that it launched the 'Global Marketing Panel (GMP)', a review group of overseas consumers and experts to pre-evaluate Korean start-up products, on May 7th.

The Global Marketing Panel consists of 200 consumers and experts from 26 countries around the world recruited through Kmall24, an overseas direct sales platform of the Korea International Trade Association, and the overseas branches. Expert group includes merchandisers (MD), buyers, influencers, and professionals.

The Korea International Trade Association sent the sample products, that are selected from the pre-qualification screening, of ten Korean start-up companies, including beauty, food, and household goods, to the review team last week. They are supposed to provide opinions on things to improve, ideas, and reviews after three weeks of product experience. Among the panels, a sizable number of social network service (SNS) users such as bloggers and YouTubers are included. Therefore, if the reviews are good, it is expected that local publicity through social media will be carried out.

CEO Lee Mi-sun of a startup Sinbad who participated in the project said, "It feels like receiving a professional overseas market research worth tens of million won that include overseas consumers’ reviews and feedback, and publicity effects without spending a penny." She also expressed her expectation saying, "We will actively reflect the panels’ opinions from all over the world on the future product development."

Cho Sang-hyun, chief of Global Startup Center at the Korea International Trade Association, said, Without a comprehensive understanding of the market environment, consumers and culture of a country, it is likely to fail to make inroads into the country. He added, The Korea International Trade Association is the only agency that simultaneously supports foreign direct sales and market conformity checks, and will actively support the entry of start-ups’ products into overseas markets considering market-specific characteristics.

The Korea International Trade Association has set up a global marketing panel exclusive store for its online direct sales platform Kmall24. 200 panels who are consumers and experts from 26 countries around the world can select products from the online store and the selected sample products will be delivered.
