    KITA Opens Seoul Office

    -To provide close export support service to some 60,000 exporters -



    The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim In-ho) held a office opening ceremony on the first floor at Trade Tower in Samseong-dong on 25th (Wednesday) with KITA’s chairman Kim In-ho, mayor Shin Yeon-hee of Gangnam-gu, deputy mayor Moon Hong-sun of Gangseo-gu and deputy mayor Hwang Chi-young of Jung-gu.  

     

    In Seoul, some 60,000 trading companies are operating their businesses and they account for 10.8 percent of Korea’s entire exports with the exports of 53.4 billion dollars in 2016. Seoul has the largest number of trading companies in Korea and the city takes the fourth place by export amount.  Gangnam-gu is a very important region for exports as it has the largest number of exports among the twenty-five autonomous districts in Seoul. Last year, Gangnam-gu recorded 16.1 billion dollars. It was bigger export amount than Chungcheongbuk-do, which is 187 times bigger in area.

    The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) has been providing field service to local trading companies while operating thirteen regional headquarters nationwide. However, there was no particular organization in Seoul.

     

    Chairman Kim In-ho said in his speech, "KITA's Seoul office will exert efforts to strengthen the export competitiveness of the regional trading companies by providing field-oriented export support services."

     

    The Seoul office, which is located on the first floor of the Trade Tower, is planning to conduct overseas marketing projects, investigate and resolve trade difficulties, organize the Seoul Business Council and strengthen its networking. It will also discover and push forward trade promotion businesses through active cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and its twenty-five autonomous districts as well as the related agencies.
